Yesterday my mom told me she'd stopped using Facebook because the algorithmic suggestions were too annoying. My 68-year-old mother who thinks kids get too many vaccines these days and who lives to gossip with her 8000-member family, stopped using Facebook. It's done for.
It's kind of exciting to finally be leaving the era of Only Five Websites! May we never, ever go back.

Yeah the shit that's happening with every social media site is making me take a good hard look at why I got into social media in the first place and what purposes it serves in my life (which, amid the usual "what if I replaced social media with going outside" I'm finding a lot of things that I really like about social media, things that I can't get anywhere else unless I do a lot of work).

Whereas here on Cohost I was just reading a thoughtful look into how this is more related to the disneyfication of the world, specifically how the single quotations imply this is more about the show 'Chernobyl' rather than the actual event.
It still sucks, but here there's a good chance of a discussion as to WHY it sucks and not the lowest hanging dunk.
