a weird problem with mastodon is there's a bunch of disparate kinds of posting cultures and people get weirdly hostile when you aren't posting in theirs
it really is weird. like there's any reasonable response but "and who the fuck are you exactly" to "are you new to mastodon? you're posting wrong."
and this even though the only way to end up seeing randos you didn't specifically follow is by following hashtags, it's not like Some Algorithm is feeding you stuff you didn't ask for!
my uninformed opinion is that mastodon is full of people who Care About Posting, which is different from (if not polar opposite to) Being A Poster
