yet the first-person narrator keeps using goofy sci-fi words and it's kind of unbearable. "dia" (day), "todia" (today), "an" (year), "decan" (decade), "decian" (a... month? I keep getting this one and the previous one confused). and yes I understand that in space you are talking about something other than "the 24-hour rotational period of the planet your ancestors are from" but since in this case a spacehorse is just a horse, and everyone also says just says "hour" when they mean "hour", the word games are kind of grating.

but the book is probably fine.
