"but Kyn, you didn't like The Fall of the House of Usher, available only on Netflix™️!"

that's true but I deserve punishment and Mike Flanagan's Netflix's Edgar Alan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher (only on Netflix) is at least full of worse people than me getting theirs.

this show has the same problem as midnight mass, where characters are allowed to soliloquize uninterrupted for minutes on end, but unlike midnight mass the speeches are at least hilarious (sell your lem-pire for a billion dollars!) and mostly relayed by Bruce Greenwood, so who can say whether it's bad or not,

"okay mike flanagan we want you to adapt a short story"

mike flanagan, loading a paint cannon with the abridged collected works of edgar allan poe for easily startled babies: sounds great I'm going to need 8-10 hour-long episodes

wow these poe stories are great but they're, I dunno, kinda slow. you know? it's all atmosphere and tension-building and some of it rhymes, which is great, but not all of it, and I worry a modern audience will get bored. what if we sorta Final Destination it up a little? the kids still love Final Destination right
