12! for the otherkin ask game! :3

12 - Do you experience heavy parallels between this life and others?

Well, this is an interesting one. The wording of the question is a little ambiguous but it seems to imply a connection between identifying as otherkin and a belief in one's ability to sense parallels between their current lived experience and that of a past life.

I guess for starters I'll provide a little context and then answer your question.

My agnostic views toward there being an afterlife or reincarnation is a major reason why I stopped believing in Christianity long ago, and why I've struggled to really dive into the teachings of Buddhism with respect to karmic action and reincarnation.

I'll have to make a post about my spiritual and religious explorations at a later date.

This used to be the predominant view in otherkin spaces. We don't know enough otherkin history to say when it started losing favour. Possibly as the otherkin umbrella absorbed other distinct groups with their own histories who didn't have this belief?

According to Wikipedia at least, there seemed to be a shift away from that more spiritual view sometime during the early 2010s. Not a complete one though, as many otherkin folks do believe in past lives and hold very strong spiritual associations with their otherkin identities. Holding those views are valid, of course.
