Well I've already picked it up in this scenario, so I'm gonna observe it and look for any interesting markings on it and the surrounding area to see where it may have come from, then likely leaving it where I found it. That is, unless I have some strange compulsion to hold onto it. It is warm to the touch, as you say, and I did already ignore my better judgment and pick it up. I guess I could hold onto it.
