in what has been a process of fighting demons, realizing they aren't necessarily to be fought but to accept and treasure in one's own way, and Just Putting Things Down And Saying They're Done Gosh Dang It, i have a debut EP on bandcamp!

if you like chiptune, it's for you. if you don't happen to love video gamey video gamey music, this is also for you -- it definitely, to my ears, trends more toward the overarching "house" supergenre, though i'm a poor judge of genre

also, i'm done (for now) with preemptive apologies for things. i'm proud of this, and i know the music is good and represents a couple months of learning and working on myself. therefore, enjoy, eat, drink, be merry, may the good waveforms guide your way

1-hour compo submission ahoy! actually kept it in a single hour, forcing myself to drop it like a cooking competition show, so uh haha there sure are some audible seams in the tapestry

the most fun part of a stealth mission is when one's cover is blown and it's time to scramble, so i'm going for that with a little ~goblin mode~ charm. when the adventuring party sees a lone goblin, she seems gormless, but after a single slip, out comes the entire clan! we need to run, fast, and grab what morsels of treasure we may along the way!

written and played using the PICO-8 emulated soundchip and tracker, converted to MP3 with Audacity

n.b. i think goblins deserve better rep and for fewer adventuring parties to roll through, stealing as they please. it's no wonder they form militarized clans!!

the due date is 20 march for finalizing this EP, to be released into the wild on bandcamp, itch.io, and the PICO-8 BBS, and i'm so excited!

this is my first time dealing with graphics and rendering loops, and it's been really fun so far. the next step is a basic audio visualizer, some flair like a gentle rhythmic pulse to the position marker on the progress bar, and then album art

speaking of, i would love to commission someone for a 128x128, 4-bit piece to use as the album art :eggbug-pleading: i don't know many folks who do pixel art and i'd love to be put in touch with cool folks! i'm fine pushing the release date back to get a high quality visual element, because album art is important

for the music itself, feel free to check out my tag picopique, where i've been dropping regular updates, in-progress tracks, and some things that may be left on the cutting room floor but are still worth a listen! i'd love to get more ears on this and to get some feedback on my writing for the PICO-8 tracker and sound system
