yeahhhh for real. and like, the web already has two good "pixel" rules you can apply to images, so you would just need to link them together...
it seems like PNG has always supported arbitrary K=>V pairs in metadata, so there's nothing stopping you from putting this in your own images... but good luck with any software preserving the metadata, or browsers doing anything with it (though servers could read it and set the CSS at least... at cost to them in processing every image...)
no big tech company will ever ask for this so we'll never get the feature in the web, basically :(
i upscale my pixel art by like 8x or 16x before sharing online for this reason and its SO SILLY i am like wasting all this ram just to make a browser render the lines crisp lol
