I watched the caddy (1953) two weeks ago on youtube, which is odd bc movies always get copyrighted to hell and back. The choreographed dance dance/music scenes were great as expected from the starring duo but otherwise the movie is so stiff and underwhelming. I dont expect anything awe inspiring from a comedy flick but this rlly actually became frustrating to watch.
Martin and Lewis' characters never really had any kind of development and EVEN when it seemed like Martin's role seemed to need to go through some kinda little stereotypical arc ("I dont want to play golf anymore" --> "actually i want to play because I Care Now") it never does and it's instead a point in the plot that has to be forced. But the important question is: was it funny? And the answer is: very far in between but it's not really a funny movie.
My recommendation is that if you actually want Funny Martin and Lewis stuff is through their radio shows and their colgate comedy hour eps, because the more I check these other movies they starred in it just seems the same pattern repeats over and over.
