just thinking about what we know about glassworking, we're pretty sure they would have had to actually knit this. like you don't typically mold glass to shape or anything like that, it's not like clay despite being chemically related. you have to actually work it. that is really, really impressive.

As I understand it, she makes the shapes in wax, which doesn't actually knit properly so there's manual manipulation to make something that looks like it's been knitted by wrapping the wax into coils, stretching that out into wavy loops, and interleaving them. (see the video, around 1:30)

Then the wax is surrounded by clay that is then baked to create a mold (the wax disappears in the baking). Glass is then poured into the clay mold.

(I'm assuming some things from the video based on what I can find out about bronzecasting, which she talks about as where she started out)
