it gets weirder: if a member's profile is disabled (like, say, they wanted to take a break) they won't be in the group for you to remove, meaning when they reactivate, they are now in an unmoderated group and can dibs the admin role, if they so desire, with all the previous posts still retained.

the fix we came up with involved putting the member of our admin cabal that was least likely to get zucced re-added in, they grab the admin job, change privacy to private, and just check in from time to time, kicking people as they re-emerged like cicadas.

also i'm not sure if its still the case but it used to be, in groups, if you got your account disabled for community guidelines infractions, there was a chance you'd also lose the admin role (and if you were the last admin, anyone could grab the admin role.) Just, really, a great system.

They probably do it this way for two reasons. 1) it makes sense for how the database is set up, it doesn't cascade to remove group members if the group is deleted, so you can't delete a group with members still in it. And 2) it prevents people from accidentally deleting a group. To go through and remove every single member, you have to be really sure that's what you want to do!
