under windows, what's the best free solution for setting up a virtual audio device that lets me route individual applications' input/output to/from it? for context: i want to stream daw work in discord, i want my input to discord be a mix of my microphone and the daw's output, and i don't want just a relay of windows's own mixer (so that way it doesn't pick up the other caller or any other applications). i've been searching online and the only promising solutions i've found either require purchase, or building the software from source yourself. (also: i have obs and may consider that, but i use a laptop and obs running alongside the daw might put too much strain on it and make things lag)

Does VB Cable fit the bill here? I vaguely remember using it to route game and mic audio through VST Host so I could do some processing on it, then routing that to OBS, back in my streaming days.
i did see that while searching! i initially brushed it off for putting the feature of Multiple Instances behind a paywall, but i think i'll be able to get by with just one virtual device lol
