is wayforward an "indie studio"
i saw they were featured in a nintendo "indie showcase" presentation recently and i couldn't help but think that was a load of horseshit, but i'd like some second opinions

i always saw indie as "developer independent of publisher". wayforward does both so its a nay from me.
I think one of the best true delineations for what constitutes "indie" that I heard was if the individuals who own the company are also in the act of making the games. The moment there's a shareholder or executive that doesn't open a creation tool is the moment it stops being indie. Don't know what that makes WayForward lol
Idk what indie games are anymore and I dont know if 5 minute itch io count as indie
