jumpscares don't either. and it's hard to find horror that actually hits via its themes. SOMA did it on my first playthrough. Ex Machina isn't really horror but had some great horror-like tension with Oscar Isaac's character. Annihilation was upsetting in parts but the CG killed it overall for me. VVitch is an uplifting feel-good film about a girl overcoming an abusive family full of fundies. Good horror is hard to find
