If you think you've expertly dodged the propaganda firehose, you are wrong. If you think propaganda is all the stuff you disagree with, you are wrong.

The most sinister propaganda starts with a kernel of truth you believe in, to distort your behavior toward things that are self-destructive. It's not just right-wingers that fall into that trap.

"Follow your heart"-style political involvement can leave you prone to manipulation by people you despise. Then before you know it, your ideology has become something akin to opposing the Allies because they're no angels

we're more and more aware lately that there's also a lot of misinformation that appears to happen, not because of anyone's design, but because of careless reporting. confusing hypotheticals for reality, that sort of thing.

Yep. And people go with whatever satisfies their knee-jerk reactions instead of reasoning things through.

this has been a major feature of a lot of discourse about a lot of things on a lot of sites. and slight misunderstandings or inaccuracies can become magnified after going viral

important vigilance rules we've learned:

the more words folks are using the more chances we'll miss something
if anything sounds right it's because the source has evolved to manipulate us
no creature has ever actually reasoned anything

this is definitely true for everyone else. not me though, my internal compass is flawless and I just say no thank you to propaganda
