It is my understanding apparently that opinions about this game is divisive? Which is like bizarre as it’s like the most brilliant immersive sims of immersive sims. Not only is the setting of Talos 1 tense and well designed in how believable it is, the way you can traverse it is so above most of Arkane’s other games let alone other games in the genre. The emergent gameplay of a Nightmare creature coming to kill your ass when you least expect it, the mimics being genuinely unnerving little vuggers, the great side stories you can find in the game and how well the game communicates them through the environment, NPCs you can meet, and even how you approach them.

It’s so hard to hate a game that does so many things well, and I haven’t mentioned the all purpose swoss army knife Gloo Cannon or the fucking Recycling Grenades. Also the game will allow you to turn yourself into a coffee mug like come on! I hope Arkane Austin will give us another banger like this while Lyon are working on Blade.

one way i know it's a great game is that i enjoy seeing other people talk about how great the game is. it's too bad microsoft sucks as bad as they do; hope a new studio arises from the ashes somewhere to get us a spiritual successor to prey

Not divisive at all in my circle. Pretty much universally beloved and recognized as having been criminally underappreciated at launch. And I recall saltiness from fans(?) of the unrelated Prey 2005 who were irrationally angry at this game’s existence, all because their precious Prey 2 was cancelled despite having seen a trailer that turned them on. Very very dumb.
