Genuinely i feel like ive come across videos that are extremely jarring and loud described as ASMR. Like the hydraulic press “satisfying” videos
People will literally dramatically misuse a term instead of therapy
my understanding of it initially was that feeling you get when someone whispers into your ear and it causes tingles and activates your nervous system in a weird way, that kinda thing. ASMR videos i saw initially seemed to lean into certain types of sounds in order to emulate that experience. Now it just seems to mean “satisfying meme compilation” or something lol
I only ever seek out actual ASMR vids and steer clear of average Meme Content so I've been blissfully unaware of this
