I know software developers love to be self-deprecating, but software development itself isn't inherently bad or stupid or pointless. I used to have that attitude to a certain degree, but I've moved away from it as I've gotten a bit older. I think that at its best, software development can involve solving interesting problems in a way that genuinely helps people.
The biggest problems with software development really come down to capitalism - enshittification pressure from VCs, absolutely ghoulish tech company leadership, lack of funding for open source projects, etc.
