A long time ago, the then-much-smaller community of Bungie fans, of which I was a part, declared 7/7 to be "Bungie day", on account of Bungie's weird fixation with the number 7. I've worked here for over 3 years now and I still don't know what the deal is with 7. But we now use this day every year to celebrate the community, do charity fundraisers, all that fun stuff. This year I designed a few pieces of merch, including this t-shirt, my favorite shirt I've done here I think. I didn't go completely bonkers with easter-eggs, but the main image is a screenshot of the orbit screen in Destiny 2 (I think from Luna iirc?) that I applied a halftone screen to, for vibes. But as you may have already noticed as well, that bar on top is a nod to the old Halo: CE health/shield bar. I always get nervous talking about Halo in a Bungie context because inevitably someone takes a flying leap to a weird conclusion that maybe a Bungie employee talking about Halo means Bungie is somehow involved with Halo again but I cannot stress enough that is not the case lol. In my mind, Halo is Bungie's most important cultural touchstone. And Halo's UI aesthetic was hugely formative for me. I still instinctively throw 45° angles everywhere just cause it's baked so deeply into my psyche. Anyway, I was happy to be able to honor the work people did on that game in some small way.
