Just remembered what kicked this idea off originally, which is "what if there was a story about a group of criminals hijacking a generation ship?"

Generation ships are the physical manifestation of a culture's existential purpose, and to have one forcefully redirected after a millennia of single-minded travel is just ripe for comedy/tragedy/action/etc
