"Elephantasy is a small exploratory puzzle-platforming game where you play as a tiny Elephant trying to get back to their home. Collect hidden Gems to raise your Rank, borrow Items from Snorri the Wizard, explore a vast and varied pixel-art world, meet a colourful cast of characters, and more! While exploring the miniature world, you'll discover a wide array of unique rooms and puzzles to solve using your Items, all of which give you various abilities; grow vines to reach high places, dash over seemingly bottomless pits, dive into uncharted waters, and lift the heaviest obstacles with ease! But beware; there are also strange and powerful beings in this magical world, many of whom won't give up their Gems willingly! It'll take all of your abilities, wits, and skill to gather enough Gems to reach the Tower!"

An astounding puzzle-focused flip-screen Metroidvania based around special tools -- many of which are extremely creative -- that you can only carry a certain number of at a time. They're all right there adjacent to the starting room, but you can only carry as many of them as your Rank allows ... and raising your Rank requires solving puzzles that use those items.

This allows the standard "need powerup to proceed" Metroidvania structure to go mildly exponential. It's not a mere matter of needing a high jump to cross an obstacle; you might need to make clever use of objects A, B, and C at a time when you can only carry two of them. So let's work on puzzles elsewhere ... aha! There goes the rank up, let's go back, swap our items out, and tackle that puzzle. Which reveals something in the next room that requires a different loadout ... and it's not like these puzzles are easy, either. And on top of that, just navigating some of the areas (underwater, for one, and the area I think is the final one) is a challenge in itself.
