it is extremely frustrating, both when obsessive doomcoverage of Noise replaces/displaces/distorts coverage of Signal, and also recognizing that the dignified and venerable institutions upon which society depends are absolutely stuffed with bullshit busywork chaff that is of no use and barely any interest to anyone.
the doom covering sucks but it's important because normies literally don't listen or pay attention and they can't fathom of any meaningful existential threats
that said, what we need is more upbeat good news coverage too- i can't read erininthemadmaxtimes every day but i can't just avoid it either. i can't go to my parents home state anymore and won't be able to inherit their house without facing discrimination until that state resolves this (in what, ten years?)
the devil is in the details often, like how the new respect for marriage act now opens a loophole for states to dodge issuing interracial marriages because we "compromised" with an already overreaching premise.
I don't want to cause panic, but I do want to firmly drive home how critical it is that we sternly say NO to these doofuses who keep playing troll games with lawfare to see if they can get 50% of their goals by asking for 100% when they deserve -1000%
SRSLY and I realize this takes more time and research (although if it's a solid blue state you really ought to take a clue from that) than simply searching press releases for the word "gender" and taking your kickback from the lorazepam industry, but dammit
my 90s public high school education was extremely deficient in a lot of ways but we DID have a model Senate and we spent some time on the numerous ways to nuke a bill you don't like other than debating it or voting against it, a subtopic with a certain level of intrinsic appeal to bored dickhead teenagers
