I wish doctor's offices would advertise which ones are the agreeable ones and which are the smart ones
there's some docs where you can walk in and be like, look, I've been on this med for 20 years and I know exactly what works for me, not to be bossy or anything but no need to reinvent the wheel here
and others you can come to with a problem you actually don't understand and they will know things about it you actually don't
and of course there is some overlap (and some "neither" but there's no salvaging that) but many docs are either one or the other
and it should be treated like different specialties, each with their own valid place in medicine, but don't make patients guess which one
because playing the "wow I sure do feel like I'm having the TEXTBOOK SYMPTOMS, perhaps a verrrry special boy could prescribe WHATEVER HE FEELS IS RIGHT FOR ME" game when you get assigned to Dr. fuckin' House is demeaning to us both
