The original Phantasy Star games had some great space ships. PsIV especially, the ship is lost technology you literally unearth (twice!). the takeoff and flight sequences have this incredible sense of wonder as you slowly move away from the spaceport and then WHIP into speed, so fast you loop over the map before changing to a cutscene of the destination coming into view.

It's a wonderful moment.

"Unexpected sci-fi in fantasy" is literally every Final Fantasy, until like VII where it became explicit. Even the first one had giant mechs in a flying orbital tower for some reason
