one of the ways i want to get less online is to replace some of the shit i use my phone for with a pda that doesnt have a freakin internet connection. it feels impossible that i cant just buy a monochrome little standalone organizer, and yet i cant really figure out what to search for. if i REALLY want to do this is retro tech my only option? i dont want a project i want a brain crutch

I miss PDAs; smart phones were a really wretched replacement in a lot of ways. but I don't suppose you could simply use a non-internet-connected smart phone? an old one maybe?
i could but the big bright display for watching videos on is such a waste of power if literally all i want is like, calendars and to do functions etc
it's frustrating—you'd think there'd be a niche for a small epaper device with some basic PDA features but nope, it's capitalism so everyone's basically forced to buy the same few things and there's no room for niche products

It's not quite what you're asking for but might help: the first iPad can be had super cheap and is mainly useful for music and notes, and the battery lasts forever in airplane mode. The browser is mostly useless in 2023 except for like 68k.news so you can't really cheat with it
i think that the homebrew ds seen may potentially have pda type functionality like what you're looking for, but that is also kind of retro tech and also i don't know that much about it
a planner that could play half of my favorite games would be an executive function nightmare, i want less features
