few things are as great a loss to the history of animation as Alexander Senki/Reign not being given literally all of the money
These frames are all within like a minute of each other. I could spend all night just gawping at individual frames. It's a genuine art crime this series has been trapped in obscurity, confined to scarce SD DVD copies and a dub that switches casts 1/3rd of the way through.
Character design by Peter Chung cribbing pics of Bowie and Jagger, art and backgrounds reminiscent of Moebius but with a surreal impressionist flair, a complete batshit plot about the rise of Alexander as a metaphor for Platonism, no one ever seems to wear pants, even the men ...
The animation also randomly just falls on its ass, the editing at times is rough as hell, and action scenes sometimes devolve to static copypasta. It's just such an insane, ambitious thing that was nonetheless unloved by anyone who had the money to make it everything it could be.
