Allow me to introduce a device that lived in my fridge for nearly my entire childhood, the Tupperware "Pick-a-Deli" pickle keeper. A handle with a mesh strainer sits under the pickles, allowing you to just lift up to extract pickle (or other briny food).
Apparently still sold, and in potentially more attractive colors than the original olive green.
