Impressionists used to be a whole genre of comedy, in fact one of the most popular, but in the last few decades fell so thoroughly out of fashion that now I see various species of nettubers go viral for doing impressions and people lose their fucking minds.
As an old fart, the responses to people like GianniM are fascinating to me because they only make sense if you realize this is almost an entirely novel concept for this generation. The last time an impressionist had any major success in comedy or acting was in like 1994, and among other comedians, a lot of them despise impressionists.
So of course my friend is confused and thinks he actually did the voice for this or that game. For me it's just another impressionist, but maybe for the younger folks or people who just forgot because they aren't ex-comedians like me, it might as well be ancient lost magics.
