Which of the Scions is your WoL/OC closest with? Have there been any turning points in that relationship?
Anna has very strong connection with Shtola. In some ways, she's been like a surrogate big sister, and her first real Miqo friend since she left her tribe. She looks up to her a lot, and yet, Y'shtola admires her a great deal in turn. That night before their biggest adventure, when they were most sure they'd not survive the coming trials, it was Shtola who came to see her.
Romantically ... it's complicated. There's long been chemistry between them, and Anna at least loves her deeply. In private they've often been more than a friendly amount of affectionate together, but time and fate just kind of never provided the moment to really address it, and both seemed hesitant to let romance get in the way of a good friendship.
And then the First ... nothing in this life since she left her tribe broke her heart more than to see Y'shtola's trust in her shaken, especially after what for Shtola was such a long time apart. While it was not the first time that trying to do the right thing had turned so wrong, this one cut the deepest, and while they remain close friends, it's still a scar in her heart that she's never dared even reveal. She dyes the white streak in her hair not just to avoid reminding herself, but out of fear of seeing that look in Y'shtola's eyes once more.
Now that Y'shtola seems to have thrown herself into returning to the First, the time to open up feels past, and Anna suspects that romantically at least, Shtola's heart is no longer open to hers.
