In January 2023, MoviePass raised seed financing led by Animoca Brands for an undisclosed amount. MoviePass said it plans to use the new funding to accelerate the beta relaunch of its movie theatre subscription service, and to develop and implement the company's Web3 strategy, which includes virtual reality cinema experiences and using technology to drive traffic to theaters. As of January 2023, the MoviePass beta version is live in nine U.S. markets including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City and Tampa Bay.

Emphases mine.

An estimated 65,611 people were experiencing homelessness in Chicago in 2020.

Any society in which both of these things are true is a failed society.

Shut it down.

I was trying to explain the plot of The Matrix to this 15-year-old once, and that the character I played was really fighting for what was real. And this young person was just like, "Who cares if it's real?" People are growing up with these tools: We're listening to music already that's made by AI in the style of Nirvana, there's NFT digital art. It's cool, like, "Look what the cute machines can make!" But there's a corporatocracy behind it that's looking to control those things. Culturally, socially, we're gonna be confronted by the value of real, or the nonvalue. And then what's going to be pushed on us? What's going to be presented to us?

most of life is really boring

so when it comes time to swap stories, you're naturally going to tell the weird or interesting or exciting bits of it

but here's the important bit

everyone else is doing the same thing

resist the urge to your compare yourself to a filtered view of others

your life probably isn't any more boring than most, it just feels like it is, because you're only hearing about the interesting bits, and not all the days in between spent vacuuming cheeto dust out of the sofa cushions after a long night of binging bad TV
