a very short list of horror films which I like & have not seen mentioned in other people's lists so far this halloween.

The Wind, 2018. a quiet movie about being alone and demons maybe? lots of staring out over the prairie. There is a simple moment in this film that is so scary & I can't figure out how to talk about it without giving it away.

La Casa Muda (Silent House), 2010. also a quiet movie about being alone, in a house so boarded up that it's dark all day long inside. this got remade in english, not too badly, but the original is so much more tense and strange. Do you know that part in a horror film where the protagonist walks down a dark hallway and they are afraid and the camera follows over their shoulder? This is a whole film of that happening.

Ravenous, 1999. A good movie that everyone should see, not quiet, excellent soundtrack, dourly funny. I think we could set more horror films in the past than we do? One of my friends knit himself a copy of an excellent sweater from this film and wore it until it was rags and now every time I watch this movie it has weird deja vu attached.

Borderlands, 2013. do you like to get scared by watching grainy surveillance footage? Also featuring surprisingly deft & funny character studies happening while green british countryside broods in the distance. This movie will jump scare you really bad, fairly frequently. Its great
