Mecha guys like me didn't know what to make of the PR around this; they'd gotten Obari to direct a military "real robot" kind of show with CG bots. Why waste him on that? But like the very best anime premieres, they marketed this show for a year without telling anybody what the deal really was until it actually ran. I'll leave it to you to find out next week (or find it today like I did. do you).
