yesterday I tried to make my book club happen. (this was not super successful, but I did spend 40 minutes chatting with a friend.)
today I organized 4 people meeting up from Recurse Center.
tomorrow I'm organizing a zoom chat for the local dbt nerds
friday i'm organizing a zoom chat for several friends to talk to one who has moved to australia.
I'm excited for all these things to happen! But I feel like I should have a name for this skill or something so I can more properly brag on it. ideas?
is introducing people and other forms of bringing people together.
One of my favorite ex-coworkers is talking about writing a book on how do you even webdev, and one of my friends is an editor at a tech press. I just got to introduce them, and it made my evening.
(I am data people and might be able to facilitate connections in that space! And just getting to know you all here is a little bit of that. Thanks for talking to me!)
I started a new job almost 6 months ago. I work remotely, but in a city with a fair number of coworkers. TODAY, I will drive and park (things that make me kind of anxious) in order to go meet some of them at a bar. (needless to say, this also makes me anxious.)
usually being brave pays off. and I do like people. I just ruminate on every dumb thing I've said after I talk to them. 😅
