Girl Creature. Born in the mid 90s. I hate it here.
It's just the internet, I guess our monkey brains are just wired to argue and defend our ideas at the slightest misstep online lol.
Uhhhh id have assumed just saying "pls dont" would be an effective way for everyone to assume thats shorthand for "i do not personally like this term, and would like it not to be spplied to my characters, similar to how one may not, say, want to be referred to by the wrong pronouns, or by ones deadname" because its a similar issue.
I mean the implication shoukd be simple, if one hears a word as a slur in reference to themsekves or their proxies it is a slur, no?
You're opening up a can of worms there, friend. Nothing is simple under the scrutiny of the whole of human experience. There will always be people who miss the forest for the trees while another group is yelling about how many fucking leaves are everywhere.
It just boils down to "don't call me that, thanks"
I don't think slur is a useful term in many of these conversations. Some people like the term others dislike it, until we have a well agreed upon convention use anything with caution and pay attention to the preferences of who is being referenced.
Calling every term you dislike a slur kinda shuts down conversation and tries to claim that no one should sue it ever. I know some folk who actively call themselves fags. I personally would be offended being called that, but I call THEM that cause that's the term they like. Most would agree it's a slur. But being mad for people using the word doesn't help.
I also knew someone who referred to themselves as intersex. They were called a futa by another friend. We later found out that said friend didn't even know about the terms intersex or nonbinary and they quickly respected the preferences upon being taught them. If we had just yelled at them for using a slur it would have probably hurt a good friend who had good intentions.
This is a general rule of thumb the works for most situations. And if you don't agree with the way someone wants you to engage with them or their work, or you find it difficult to engage in the way they want you to. then just stop engaging.
i get what you're saying but wraith's point - if i'm understanding right - is that its incredibly annoying how stating that you don't want a term used for yourself/your characters makes fuckin' everyone jump out and start arguing over whether they're "allowed" to not like the term or start debating over what is and isn't a slur or derogatory term, which isn't helpful, because the point was just "dont call me this thanks" and that's it
you're literally doing exactly what she's talking about lmao
i'm just curious, what other terms would you prefer for people to use when talking about women with male genitals? i understand that you'd rather not use that word, but i just wanna know what you'd like to see in place of it so i can use it as well
Male genitals is just the generic term for it, don't get your titties in a twist. Its not exclusive to males as you know
ok generic porn blog. im p sure the generic term for it is penis, phallus, or any other one of the various actual terms.
I feel like this is a bit now, unless this is an unironic "um actually ☝️"ing
And please, please don't act like I wouldn't want to use penis or phallus. Don't start having arguments about imaginary people
Soke refer to tyem generically eith more feminine or female aligned monikers, like gock, girlcock, hen etc
What would you prefer? Penis? Cock? Dick? Dong? Schlong? Wang? I doubt we'd be taken seriously if we don't sanitize the words we use (even when they're inaccurate).
Basic courtesy is too much for some people, evidently.
Or reading comprehension.
Oh shit- well I’ll know not to use that term with you to respect how you feel!
out of curiosity, would you use the term for another person's characters if that is how that artist referred to them? or do you dislike the term itself?
I don't get into arguments on the internet very often, but the two times im recent memory that someone spat out multiple paragraphs at me was about the term. At this point, I just find it tiresome to talk about (especially when "Just use other terms" is so much easier than any "Formal" debate).
I'm... having a hard time with this one. Is this a "this is a thing that's annoying me still, please stop" post. Or a "point and laugh at the people who don't abide by my sensibilities" post? Or even a "lol, people" post? The subtext here can be construed many different ways, depending on intended hostility towards the group in question. I'm sorry if you'd rather just drop the whole conversation, but making a post dedicated to the problem sort of invites debate over it.😅 Love your work, your style and character design always make me smile, and hope you find a nice resolution to this conflict!
ah, sorry if i contributed to this. i was agreeing with you, but technically what i did still probably counts as this even if the end point was the same, and i understand it's probably annoying either way.
and of course all of them are porn blogs ran by men. the internet continues to never change
