Alternative "medicine", particularly homeopathy, unfortunately enjoys great popularity here in Germany too. I've had the misfortune of being offered alt-med remedies in lieu of actual medicine for various real illnesses and disability-related health effects mutliple times. There has been somewhat of a reversal in recent years, and legislative efforts to end coverage of quackery by public health insurance providers were partially successfull, but thanks to powerful lobbying, the grift is still going strong.
