I believe firmly in ... Not "less is more", exactly but. letting things go unsaid. For example.
Before:
The dress Saffron was trying on was the one where she used me as a decoy to get away with stealing it. She strolled off and I ended up cuffed and face down on the concrete. Picked gravel out my teeth for a week afterwards.
After:
Saffron was trying on one of her nicer dresses, the one she stole by using me as a decoy. I had to pick gravel out my teeth for a week afterwards.
Do you see the difference? Really it's only the removal of one sentence. But now there's a space for implication.
