I am so thoroughly pleased that I am watching an animated show that is for adults. I love that it is moody, tragic, political, somewhat opaque and disgustingly perverted. It's about as close to the manga as you could get while still making a reasonably coherent TV show but its visual language and homages are what take it from adaptation to "work of art that stands apart from just the manga."

I love that both exist in the world, for sure, because I do think the manga is also a work of art. I'm out of shape for keeping up with the sheer onslaught of anime and manga that comes out every season so I'm very precise about what I invest my time in experiencing, and CSM has not disappointed me, ever.

It is hard to articulate but it's so much fun watching something that feels mature, and that word gets overused so I am trying to think of how I want to slice away at it. It is a contrast to the fact that most animation here taps out at like, 25-year olds and beyond that tends to still lean more raunchy/comedic instead of moody, dark and sexual but not in a way that feels specifically sexist.

anyways I am back on my anime pervert shit and I watch it every week with my 2 other friends who have also read the manga and we just talk about it afterwards and it feels so delightful
