My supervisor is convinced that themed months are a great way to guide library programming so every year he has me collect a list of the random like “National Clam Chowder Prevention Week” type stuff and man this practice of the government declaring all these simultaneous crowded observances is really silly. It’ll be like “National Death by Falling into a Spike Pit Remembrance Day” on the same day as “National Laughter Day”
Also I’m endlessly amused by the inane meaninglessness of “Awareness” observances like I’m sorry “Reading Awareness Month?” So it’s just about be aware of reading? Like in the same way we have Acid Burn Victim Awareness Day or whatever?
Endangered Species Day, an observance declared by the US government, is on the same day as National Pizza Party Day
