hey this is a wall of text. be warned.

-super lesbian animal RPG: extremely cute turn based rpg about queer furries. 8 or 9/10

-chained: cyberpunk narrative puzzle game. plays like a pretty good flash game. 6/10

-secret little haven (2nd playthrough): VN/adventure game about being an egg in the 90s. 9 or 10/10 this game made me love myself

-disco elysium (2nd playthrough): crpg about failure, alcohol addiction, politics. 9/10

-sonic the hedgehog 2 (millionth playthrough): permanently altered my brain chemistry. 9/10

-steamworld quest: hand of gilgamech: deckbuilder rpg (not roguelike). wish deckbuilding was slightly more flexible but it's pretty good! i wish there were more of these! 7/10

-loverowind: nature appreciation walksim. probably my least favorite of tonguc bodur's little series of these but it wasn't a bad time. 6/10

-the murder of sonic the hedgehog: official sonic VN with adorable art. 8/10

-vernal edge: 2d devil may cry-troidvania. 8/10

-hypnospace outlaw (2nd playthrough): browser based adventure game about capitalism and the death of the internet. 9/10

-ori and the blind forest (millionth playthrough): this is my second favorite game of all time. high movement metroidvania about being a little critter and loving the world. 10/10

-"-256": short mildly spooky a e s t h e t i c walksim. 7 or 8/10

-mythic ocean: weird little philosophy themed adventure game about philosophical extremes. 7 or 8/10

-INSIDE: atmospheric horror-adventure game. very late to this party. extremely good 9/10

-south scrimshaw part one: speculative biology vn about alien whales. 8/10

-highway blossoms (2nd playthrough): vn about girls on a treasure hunt road trip and falling in love. 8/10

-hi-fi rush: rhythm based devil may cry like. this game slaps. 9/10

-submerged: hidden depths: atmospheric explore and ubisoft-style-climb game in a flooded city. 7/10

-mage tower 2: call of zadeus: a lot like shandalar with a slightly different card game. still in development. 7/10

-bomb rush cyberfunk: it's jet set radioooooooooooooooo. 9/10

-terranova: browser-based vn about early 00s roleplay and long-distance queer relationships. i cried a lot. 9/10

-NEO: the world ends with you: urban fantasy arpg. ridiculously stylish. didn't like it as much as the original but still loved it. 8/10

-CODE Bunny: bite-sized and blisteringly fast megaman-ish deal about bunnies!! 8 or 9/10

-grimm's hollow: cute little spooky rpgmaker game. 8/10

-the tribulation entanglement: weird little castlevania-like with 1bit junji ito-ish art. the art's a lot better than the gameplay. 7/10

-neverhome - hall of apathy: out of control good loveletter to early 2010s rpgmaker horror. can't wait to see more of this series!! 8/10

-sonic mania (millionth playthrough): this is my fav sonic game. 9/10

-karmazoo: highly multiplayer co-op platformer. cute but the progression system is pretty grindy. 7/10

-ffxiv (2.0 to 6.1): i can't believe i'm someone for whom ffxiv is in their top 10 games ever. i'm such a normie now. 9/10

small saga (currently playing): bite sized mouse adventurer rpg. i don't have to finish this to tell you it's at least an 8

shredders (currently playing): snowboarding game about snowboarding films specifically. recreates that feeling pretty well! at least an 8 i think

edit: i forgot about a couple other little itch.io only things cause i was using my steam library to write this! oops!

a trick and a treat: dead letters (and one other), the intern of christmas present: two bite sized and adorable game-jam vns, the first containing a short horror story and a very silly halloween trans comedy thing, the latter continuing the trans comedy thing. great time 8/10

the heart of arel: cute little adventure game about a polycule exploring a wilderness. 7/10 but only so low because i want more of it

rating legend:
10/10 - my personality is based on this
9/10 - i will carry some part of this with me for the rest of my life. major inspiration
8/10 - has not changed my understanding of art but is executed extremely well and i wouldn't want to miss it.
7/10 - pleasant, good, not "must play" for me
6/10 - i'm not mad i played this, i had a fine time, but i should have picked a 7/10 instead

games i bounced off of:
creature in the well: somehow simultaneously too hard to keep my attention and not engaging enough to keep my attention. cool art direction though!

gridform: cool geometry-wars-like with a small mission structure, 2hard for me

spiritfarer: the chores-to-story ratio just wasn't for me. i get why people like it though.

life after magic: i actually did finish one but this was the last straw for dating sims for me. i don't like how the "difficulty" in dating sims is that if you ever hang out with a single other person than your Chosen Route Character, you get a bad end where you have no meaningful connections?? so you have to resist having more than one friend?? not for me. cute characters tho.

in reply to @applecinnabun's post:

hey rad, thank you! :3 interesting to see how ladder variance turned out! i had given that 0 conscious thought whatsoever.

i will say the idea of an "F rank" on a list of games that i did enjoy at least the bare minimum to finish and mention is mildly amusing, but i do see where it comes from :p
