something i managed to make today despite a head full of marshmallow and chronic fatigue! look how pretty this loop turned out! math is happening! :3

if anybun is curious how i go about designing and drawing obstacles in pixel art, what i do is i make levels entirely out of angles that are convenient to draw. for example, the first angle of the loop here is 18.436 degrees, which doesn't seem very convenient at first glance, but it (essentially) corresponds to pixel lines that go three pixels to the right, one pixel up.

i'd love to take credit for how the angles lined up with each other here, but at the end of the day when you're choosing angles for specific mathy reasons like that, they're just going to make interesting and cool mathy patterns when you put them together sometimes!

this has the added benefit of making it feel noticeable when i use angles that aren't convenient to draw. my game has a pretty established "angle palette", and when i break away from that i can make sections feel much more organic and not man-made.
