hey so i was pretty much completely offline between 2017 and 2023, and hadn't heard of Worm, the web serial by Wildbow, before 2017, and i haven't really interacted with worm fandom spaces much
can someone explain to me what the reputation there is? i see "worm fan" spoken in a tone of voice that i can't tell exactly how negative it is or why lol
can't speak for Worm or its fan-space specifically, but I bounced hard off another of their works, Pact, which should've been up my alley but it had a combination of interminable plot pacing and ruthlessly grimdark tone that makes me unwilling to see if anything else they wrote is any better. and, indeed, what I heard suggests that Worm is much the same
