something else about being the only black folk in white spaces that i don't see get talked about often is even after making some absolutely lovely friends and fostering a community that's conscious about shit and willing to sit and listen and learn and grow is..... there's still a profound loneliness that never really goes away. that yearning to connect with my brothers and sisters and siblings of color, get to know someone who i don't need to break down any barriers with, they just get it. it's nobody's fault, but it's still rough

this post is ok to share btw, just bc i was asked i'll put that on record. in fact, i'd encourage it, and if you happen to be Black and reading this, i'd love a chance to reach out, maybe get to know each other more. i'd like that quite a lot, actually :)

If you're on Discord, I totally recommend checking out the BIPOC fur server!! I've been here for almost two years now and it's been SO great being in a space where there's an understanding of intersectionality and the user behind the screen being an individual, but also we're still cute little animals who like art and fandom and it's so welcoming and fun 🥺
The mods are super duper cool and I've met so many lovely people through this space so I'd love to invite you as someone who also got these feelings of loneliness on a progressive (but still largely white) internet. If you pop in, feel free to mention me at LILLY! (@fuckingbiteyou) cuz I got a stupid username on there LMAOO

I think the online POC experience is fascinating coming from a diverse irl region cuz like... it was only ever when I was online that I felt like a minority so it was only online that I felt the necessity to hide my asianness because of how I'd be treated lmao. It's a whole other topic that I love to talk about, I just don't want to ramble too much hehe
