a thing that always gets to me when i think about it is that i'm like. probably happier than most billionaires. the best thing we as a collective can think of to do with ourselves is filter all our wealth and resources to the hands of like 8 people, kneecap science and medicine completely because it isn't profitable, intentionally fail to just have normal, sustainable services in pursuit of infinite growth, and the 0.0000001% aren't... even happy.
ideally i'd like for people to have other ideas than raw hedonism, but even in terms of raw hedonism they're not even happy!! it is viciously, profoundly pointless. absolutely roiling, nonsensical chaos. destruction for destruction's sake and no one even likes it. the cosmos are uncaring and broadly speaking the people care even less.
