Trashy manga is a genre in and by itself, and is more often than not drenched in buckets of gore and desensitizing boatloads of (sexual) violence. So it's refreshing to see a manga like My Girlfriend's Not Here Today by Kiyoko Iwami driving itself off of that metaphorical cliff with nothing but good ol' soap opera sleaze.
Every character is either completely braindead or evil incarnate. The central "love triangle" is so comically toxic and problematic it would make the average Harlequin novella writer clutch their pearls. The whole thing seems as if it would somehow air on Hallmark and Skinemax simultaneously.
Serving piping hot garbage without a slave harem or death game in sight? Quite the achievement!
