i seem to have mostly fallen off mastodon for the oddly specific reason that it has somehow become a place where someone insists on telling me "yeah i think no one should bother making software for your platform" every time i visit. as if this were not only a normal thing to say but also crucially important to convince me of or something

i made a toot to this effect and as a result i now have someone in my replies explaining how linux may not be worth dedicating resources to if it's only one or two percent of sales

thanks man i had no idea!! i definitely haven't had one thousand people explain this to me before and also i'm a fucking idiot

Hot take: software should only be released for Linux.

That way it will account for 100% of sales. Taps forehead

Personally I'm taking a break from Mastodon because I got caught up in the most recent iteration of Alt Text discourse and I guess I'm really tired of everyone only caring about the One Current Most Important Issue while ignoring the other issues that are made worse by the current hyperfixation on the one.

been thinking about this a lot this week. why is it that there's always someone ready to explain the basic ideas of something that you've just brought up in detail.

is it a type of person that must demonstrate... something? familiarity with the topic? or is there just some "i fucking already know this" signal that failed to send
