The end of ARR, especially The Parting Glass still gets me right in the feels. Going through it again on my alt makes me remember Ultima Thule all over again which just makes the emotion all the more.
ARR is not my favorite. But the scenes of The Parting Glass make up the most daring ending in all of FFXIV. In 40 minutes or so, the writers just leave you (and your friends) fucked.
I was enraged by that banquet. I wanted to stay and fight alongside Raubahn, or failing that keep the Scions together and cut a path out of the palace over the bodies of whatever guards stood in our way. I still stay away from Ul’dah unless I have to go there.
