I got this album recommendation from @tsiro here on Cohost, and it is absolutely the best purchase I've made on Bandcamp.
I was a little bit familiar with KNOWER before, as an electronic pop band with occasional dubstep. Their sound has evolved to replace the occasional dubstep with absolute heaps of funk and jazz, and it even leaves me wondering if "electronic" is still the right description given how much of this album is amazing brass and orchestral performances.
It is an ambitious combination and it works so well. Multiple tracks have that moment where the last chorus transitions into the jazz solo and every time I'm like oh shit yeah.
My favorite tracks are "I'm the President", "Real Nice Moment", and "Do Hot Girls Like Chords", but this album is an album and deserves to be heard straight through.
To set the stage: It begins with a nebulous orchestral intro that leaves you wondering what will happen next, and then what happens next is the most kickass bass line I have heard since Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's an album that gently strokes your hair and then yanks on it and says okay listen up bitch.
