We’re coming up on spooky season again and I’m thinking about horror.
I have a fairly strict “no modern horror” rule about media. It’s too intrusive. It gets in my head and screws me up for weeks and months.
But classic horror? Vincent Price and Hammer Horror and all that good stuff, from back when it was 90% vibes and almost no actual violence? Love that stuff. It’s especially good if it’s a comedy or parody. Classic horror is ingrained in the cultural consciousness and gets riffed on all the time, so it speaks to my sensibilities as a cartoonist.
