ICYMI I've been working on a federated social network for FGC because Twitter is circling the drain. It's slightly more real now, so you can maybe sign up.

We have:

  • Terms of Service. No crypto, no pedo shit, keep the smut on the DL for the most part, and be kind to eachother.
  • A support portal. Somehow I never see a Mastodon/Fediverse instance with it's own support page or help desk, which seems like the first thing you want to do when you try to push open source software.
  • A support Discord! Our emails are taking several hours to deliver to Google recipients for no good reason so we've set up a temp ticketing Discord and will migrate to OSTicket in the future once we're confident in our ability to deliver mail to Google's ratchet-ass service. The discord is on the support portal site.
  • A Patreon. It costs me about $35/mo to run this thing, right now. That should scale pretty well, and I've been floated some money to start with, but we'll see how it goes.
  • A Ko-Fi for the same reasons as a Patreon but in case you wanna do one-off donations you can this way,
  • Maybe functional emails now? I've been working on verifying our mail account in every possible way, and I saw someone use a gmail to sign up and immediately verify, so...let's hope it's working by tomorrow?

Anyway this has been my personal obsession the past few weeks and I think it's finally in some semblance of working order. Hopefully it's cool and not the worst decision I've ever made.

ty based shib for the no crypto rule

This is an incredible service. Feels like a good middle ground between twitter and forums with its longer posts and working embeds. I've been using fgcnet a lot.

A few months ago I wrote about Ganbare! Inuchan, an incredibly charming storybook game for adults about a little dog who wants to become a new wave star. It's incredibly charming, with fun characters, catchy music, and some really cleverly-designed minigames. It's really easy to root for Inuchan and his friends, and as silly as the plot is, the ups and downs of their band feels really true to life - which makes sense, since it's created by an indie new wave musician.
