this whole place is absurd. we’re out in yellowstone today and it’s just…. i’ve seen and admired paintings and assumed that the colors were at least partially artistic choice? like how i never paint white-blue clouds? no. exactly accurate. what the fuck. i’m almost angry about it (my phone camera did not capture the colors but just trust me)

#i guess this is the first day the eastern gate was open so we’ve enjoyed mostly people free viewing which i guess is rare…#and i believe it because i’m sitting here posting from the parking lot to old faithful and it’s f u l l #the reason i’m angry btw: i don’t think it’d be possible to paint this place now the way people have in the past?#you could never find a good spot and sit for hours and paint #even our relatively people less experience has been a prohibitive volume of people who would all (reasonably) want a turn sitting at the ideal spots #i mean i’d be happy painting much less dramatic landscapes anyway so maybe i’m just mad that i don’t have the time or resources to do it #less dramatic in the biggest of air quotes this place is all visual drama
